Background information

This design supports a wide range of multimedia applications and connectivity while minimizing power consumption to deliver industry-leading standby and talk times. Manufactured in very high volume, this cost-effective solution comes fully GCF/PTCRB tested, so OEMs and ODMs can save time while delivering mature, reliable technology.
Each Nexperia cellular system solution is a carefully designed combination of powerful core hardware and proven, mature software. More than 200 million Nexperia-based systems have been brought to market, making these platforms some of the most extensively proven designs available.

The NXP core chipset includes a Nexperia multimedia baseband, an RF transceiver, a power management unit, and a battery charger. The protocol stack includes an extendable man-machine interface (MMI) and is fully tested for interoperability with the application hardware. The result is an optimized design that provides outstanding standby and connection time.

The Nexperia cellular system solution 6120 includes several ICs that raise the core chipset to a higher level of multimedia performance. There is an image processor, with dedicated power-management circuitry, that previews, captures, stores, and manipulates still images and video clips. This IC, part of a two-chip solution that includes a display driver, supports displays with up to 262k colors and resolution of up to QCIF+ (176 x 220 pixels). There is also a built-in low-power FM radio IC that can be used with US, European, and Japanese bands.

For wireless connectivity, the Nexperia cellular system solution 6120 has built-in options for Bluetooth, WLAN, and even Near Field Communication (NFC).

The Nexperia Mobile Developers Kit has all the elements needed to start working with a Nexperia cellular system solution. The Kit is shipped ready to run on a standard Windows PC and includes a self-guided training pack plus a complete set of documentation (with HTML index) that provides extensive reference material.
